Water Softening
A lot of people are not aware of water softening, because they have never even thought to describe their current household water as 'hard'. To understand what water softening is, one must first understand what hard water is. Hard water is water that contains more minerals than ordinary water, especially magnesium and calcium.

The higher the level of magnesium and calcium found in water, the harder the water is. This still may not be enough to worry people, as it may not necessarily sound like a bad thing. However, these minerals are not a good thing to have in your water. It can cause something called lime scale build up, which can lead to a number of problems, such as:
- Difficulty with soap dissolving in water
- Difficulty with detergent dissolving in water
- Clogged pipes
- Dry skin
Water softening simply removes these harsh minerals from water, which will eliminate all the problems that hard water can bring. Hard water can lead to a number of problems that can wind up costing you a lot of money in the long run; more money than it would to simply soften your water and prevent these problems from ever occurring the first place.
